Workshop Name: International Workshop on Ethics, Motivation and NGO Staff Remuneration

Need for Workshop
NGOs play a crucial role in enhancing community access to critical services: provision of health services in hard to reach and marginalized areas, food security and nutrition, education, access to justice, civic awareness, provision of water, human rights awareness among others. Nonetheless, unethical behavior remains a persistent problem in many nonprofits-large and small and results in eroded public confidence in NGO leadership and performance.

It should also be worthy of note that one of the greatest challenges facing policy makers, top management, HR managers and program implementation is high staff turnover among NGO staff. A large majority of staff and professionals in the NGO sector work for long hours in harsh, insecure, hard to reach environments and sometimes with low/inadequate remuneration resulting in severe stress and de-motivation.

This high level, powerful 3 day seminar takes participants though complex issues specific to NGOs: Ethics in NGOs, the need to motivate staff and remunerate them appropriately in order for increase staff retention rate, improve productivity levels.
The forum provides excellent opportunities for you to hear and learn how other NGOs address issues of ethics, the strategies they apply to motivate their employees and how they navigate through the really difficult issue of staff remuneration. Additionally, sharing ideas with peers from diverse cultural, educational and environmental backgrounds will help you identify what you are doing right, what you need to change or stop doing altogether and what you need to start implementing and deliver intervention programs to the satisfaction of your beneficiaries and funders.
